Sunplus Technology has said that the Taiwan government’s National Development Fund will take a 20% stake of its subsidiary Sunplus mMobile, which expects to introduce 3G handset chips by the end of this year.
Sunplus Technology will see month-by-month revenue growth in April and May amid strong orders for set-top box (STB) and DVD ships, according to company chairman Chou-Chye Huang.
Sunplus mMobile will launch USB dongle chips later this month and begin volume production later this quarter, indicated Huang.
Sunplus mMobile has been transferred to China-based HT mMobile through a stock swap. In the future Sunplus Technology and the National Development Fund will each own a 20% stake of Sunplus mMobile, according to Sunplus Technology.
